I recently picked up a mid-90s Bianchi Project 1 bike as a project bike. It was in pretty rough shape. It was caked in Mojave desert dust, and all of the rubber was dry rotting. On a good note, that frame was solid. The purple paint is in pretty good shape. There are a few scratches that are typical for a bike of this age. I did find a couple of rust spots, but they should be easy to address. I have already stripped most of the components off of the bike, and I have ordered new rim tape and tubes. I had a spare set of 700x38c tires hanging out in the garage. They will be fine while i figure out what I want to do with it. It does have a flat bar and twist shifters, which I am not a fan of. Unfortunately, I am not sure whether to put drop bars or sort of alt bars on it. I figure that I will get it into rideable shape before I start making any drastic changes. I do have my eye on another bike as well, but that one is a project for someone else.
